The Tea Area School District Board of Education is excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Tonia Warzecha as our new Superintendent. Dr. Warzecha brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success in education. With over a decade of leadership experience, including the last four years as Superintendent of Dakota Valley, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing student achievement, supporting educators, and building meaningful school-community relationships.
Dr. Warzecha holds a Doctor of Education Degree, a Specialist Degree in Education Administration, and a Master's Degree in Education Administration, all from the University of South Dakota. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Southwest Minnesota State University.
She has a strong history with the Tea Area School District, where she served as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for seven years, and an Assistant Principal for three years. Dr. Warzecha has 16 years of elementary experience, teaching at Tea Area Legacy Elementary and in Mankato Minnesota. Dr. Warzecha's work has earned her numerous accolades, including being named the South Dakota Curriculum Leader of the Year in 2021 and the Project Lead the Way Teacher of the Year in 2015.
Known for her student-first approach and her expertise in curriculum and instruction, Dr. Warzecha is committed to fostering a learning environment that supports the academic and personal growth of every student. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a deep understanding of the needs of both students and staff.
